Dental Crowns
Porcelain dental crowns are carefully crafted to restore both the strength and appearance of your natural teeth.Â
Each crown is designed with precision and care to ensure a perfect fit, prioritizing comfort, function, and long-term results.
What is a dental crown?
A dental crown, also called a cap, is a protective cover placed over a tooth to restore its shape, strength, and appearance. It’s often used when a tooth is cracked, worn down, or has a large filling. The crown works like a helmet for your tooth, helping prevent further breakage.Â
Crowns are also used for cosmetic reasons, like covering a discoloured or misshapen tooth.
When a tooth is compromised, delaying treatment can lead to more serious damage or even tooth loss. A well-made crown helps protect the tooth, restore function, and keep your smile healthy for years.

Why Dental Crowns Are Recommended By Us
Dental crowns are custom-fitted coverings that are placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Dental crowns serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, making them a crucial component in modern dentistry.
Functional Needs
A crown covers and protects a tooth weakened by decay, large fillings, or cracks, restoring its strength and function. After a root canal, it’s especially important, as the tooth becomes more brittle. Without a crown, the tooth may break beyond repair and require extraction or an implant.
Aesthetic Needs
Crowns also improve the look of your smile by covering discolored, misshapen, or misaligned teeth. They create a more even, natural appearance, making them a great option for cosmetic enhancements.
Our step-by-step Crown Process
At Art of Smile Dentistry, we believe your path to a healthier smile should be simple and stress-free. Our step-by-step approach keeps you informed and comfortable throughout your dental crown experience.
Appointment 1: Tooth Preparation, Digital Scan & Temporary Crown Placement
To ensure a perfect fit and natural look, the tooth is gently reshaped, preserving as much of the healthy structure as possible. We then use advanced digital scanners to take a precise impression—no messy molds required. While your custom crown is being made, a temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth and maintain your smile.
Your Crown is Custom Crafted
Over 1–2 weeks, skilled dental technicians use your digital scan to create a crown that fits precisely and looks completely natural. Careful attention is given to color and shading so your new crown blends seamlessly with your smile.
Appointment 2: Permanent Crown Placement
Once your crown is ready, we remove the temporary and check the fit, bite, and color of your new crown. After any needed adjustments, it’s securely cemented in place for a natural look and comfortable feel.
Follow-Up Care
Is a crown right for me?
If you have a tooth that’s cracked, heavily filled, worn down, or has had a root canal, a crown may be the best way to protect it and restore its function. Crowns are also a great option if you’re looking to improve the shape or appearance of a tooth. The best way to know for sure is to come in for an exam — we’ll assess the health of your tooth and discuss the most effective treatment options for your smile.
